KOUNDÉ: "WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE WIN IN THE SECOND HALF"

"Everytime I'm put on the pitch by the gaffer, I'm happy"

Jules Koundé was playing in an unfamiliar position for the first half of the draw against Athletic: "The feeling is that we could have won it. We didn't play well in the first half, especially the first 20 minutes. Afterwards and especially in the second half, we could have gotten the win".

The French man have to adapt to left-back and it wasn't plain-sailing: "It was difficult playing in this position, but everytime I'm put on the pitch by the gaffer, I'm happy. It's a show of confidence, but it was tricky - especially for their goal. I was in a bad position, but this is part of my learning and I always try to do the best I can".

He had orders to get up and support the attack, but being moved back to centre-back was much simpler: "At left-back I tried to do what the manager told me. We have full-backs that get up and support a lot and I tried to do that. Sometimes it's not so easy, but whenever we played with three at the back in the second half, there was more protection so that I could venture forward and support the attack".

To finish off, Koundé spoke about the season so far: "We have done well for the first half of the season. There's things we need to improve on, but we're happy even though there are things that we could have done better. Our objective is always to aim as high as possible".
