During his appearance on Onda Cero Sevilla's talk show on Monday, General Sporting Director Monchi said he had no doubts about the performances of Argentinian international Éver Banega, two-time UEFA Europa League winner with the club. The numbers do confirm Monchi's view, as once again, Banega's performances show he is still a key figure at the club.
Out of players at the club, he has attempted and completed the most passes, and assisted the most goals too. His 1,231 passes in the league are beaten by only Busquets and Piqué, and his six assists beaten by only Messi, Suárez, Rodrigo and Portu. This statistic is even more impressive when you consider that there are 16 league matches to go and he has already broken his record for most assists in a league season, beating his five assists in 2017/18, the season of his return to Sevilla. He has also assisted seven in all competitions, his best tally in five seasons at the club.
The Argentine has played in 25 out of 32 matches so far this season
The number 10 has also made the most passes in the opposition's half, as well as being the most fouled player in the team, winning 38 fouls, a long way clear of Franco Vázquez in second player, with 26. His importance is also reflected by the fact he has played in 25 out of 32 matches so far this season, which brings his total number of Sevilla FC appearances to 220.
