WE ALL HAVE TO PLAY THIS GAME

Yesterday, Sunday, was one of those days that will be unforgettable for every Sevilliano... and not in a good way. There was no 'El Gran Derbi', and added to that there was the news that neither Semana Santa nor La Feria de Abril will take place as scheduled this year. The exceptional circumstances within which we are living are, unfortunately, taking control of everything. We are faced with an unknown reality and to come out of it as soon as possible, the best thing to do is act responsibility and continue to follow the recommendations laid down by the authorities.  

Football, as is usually said, it the most important thing of things that aren't that important. And, in the recent climate, this is the utmost truth. It's a message which I would like to transmit to all the employees of Sevilla FC, to all the supporters, and, if I'm allowed to, to the citizens of our great city. All of us would love to be enjoying the build-up to our 2nd leg in the Europa League against Roma... But right now, the real game is being played far away from the football pitch. It's a game of civic responsibility and good judgement. It's a game of knowing how to behave. It's a game where we all have to play our part, no matter how small you may think it is, so that we can get back to normality as quickly as possible.

For this game, there are no colours, no sides. We all have to play it, Sevillistas, Béticos... we're all the same now. It's a great moment for us to set an example and show that Seville is a model city and shows solidarity whenever this sort of moment happens. Now more than ever, we have to set an example of what it is to be SEVILLANÍA.

Moreover, it is also a moment for us all to thank and really value the work that all of those people who have to continue to work throughout this difficult situation. The health care workers, of course, but also those that work in the supermarkets, the officers in the forces along with the workers within the State Security... to be honest, there's a lot of people who in these coming days, will have to go out and do their job as normal for us. I speak on behalf of everyone at Sevilla FC when I say, from the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU!

Sevilla FC have tried to do their bit in this crisis, by suspending all sporting activity and allowing their employees to 'Telework'. Likewise, since last Friday we have been launching a campaign through our social media sites, speaking of the importance of listening and following the advice of the authorities, and staying at home during these next two weeks. On this topic, I want to remind everyone that Sevilla FC are on hand to help the authorities with whatever they may need help with.
