LOPETEGUI: "WE WERE CLOSE, BUT IN THE LAST 15 MINUTES THEY WERE THE BETTER SIDE"

The manager was annoyed with the result after the side failed to find a second goal which would have given the team breathing space

Julen Lopetegui spoke to official media after the draw against Levante UD in La Nucia: "It's not a good feeling because we wanted to get the three points. We were close, but in the last 15 minutes they were the better side and we ceded too much ground to them. It's the manager's responsibility surely, having the possibility of making five changes, the moment in which they also pressed more".

In this sense, he indicated that the draw could have come from the reading of the game: "We had five fresh players, I think it was a question of reading the game as they took risks and we did not know how to counter. We tend to be a side who manages results well and today we did not. The way of managing it is looking for a second goal and we did not get it, we could well have had another shock too".

Despite the draw, the Basque manager also stated his side are in good physical shape: "They've got good legs in them. I think the team worked well in the circumstances, they came into the match well physically and let's hope they recover quickly, looking ahead to Friday".
