3000 POINTS IN THE TOP FLIGHT

After today's 2-0 win against RCD Mallorca, Sevilla FC have hit another achievement in terms of all-time points in LaLiga. They are now on 3000, which puts them in sixth position in the all-time table after overtaking RCD Espanyol a few years ago, who are now on 2918 and will be unable to add to their tally next season after their relegation to LaLiga Smartbank was confirmed on Wednesday.

The Nervionenses have reached this number in their 76th top-flight campaign. Also, it is worth remembering that the table counts 2 points for a win pre-1995/96, and 3 points for a win from then on. Sevilla have reached the 3000 point mark after 2520 matches, with 1042 wins, 548 draws and 920 defeats, with a goal difference of 332 (3844 scored, 3512 conceded).

Looking back, the last round figure was achieved in 2011/12 when Míchel was manager, reaching 2500 points with a 3-0 win against Real Zaragoza - Negredo scored a brace while Fazio added a third. The 2000 point mark was reached in an iconic match, when Baptista scored against Osasuna on the final day of the 2003/04 season, a match which took Joaquín Caparrós's side back into Europe after a two-decade absence.

The midway point, 1500 points, was achieved in the eighteenth match of the 1989/90 season, when Vicente Cantatore was manager. It was a 4-0 win against Rayo Vallecano in Nervión, with a brace from Polster, and a goal apiece for Carvajal and Diego. 

The 1000 point mark was hit a long time before, when Roque Olsen's Sevilla beat Sporting Gijón 2-1 in Matchday 13 of the 1975/76 season. The goals were scored by the late Tolo Plaza and Villalba, with his only goal for the club. To finish the review, a win over Valencia in the eleventh match of the 1954/55 season brought up the 500 point mark. With Helenio Herrera as manager, the Blanquirrojos won 2-1 at home with goals from Arza and Liz.
