Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, 'Monchi', offered his thoughts on the win over Inter, which secured the club's sixth Europa League: "We've overcome a real struggle. I'm proud of the dressing room, of how they've handled the game from the start. It would have been very difficult for us not to have brought the cup home because of the degree of unity and involvement, it's been brutal. Everyone went in the same direction. I've been organising the celebration a little bit and everyone has delivered".
MONCHI: "IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFICULT FOR US NOT TO HAVE BROUGHT THE CUP HOME"
Precisely, as for the celebration he has indicated that "we are Sevilla and the Europa League deserves respect, that's why perhaps today I was colder, but I am very happy. I remember people who are not here today and who have given me a lot of strength mentally and who serve as motivation in difficult moments".
He also attached importance to what had been achieved by seeing how the Italian players reacted at full time: "There's always that question of whether this competition is a secondary one, whether the opponents...let's see what they say now. At Inter they were sad because this is not easy, what we have done was very difficult, beating teams with bigger budgets. Now it's time for the club's 20th final and my 18th".
On Lopetegui: "Everything that was said has been confirmed, multiplied by what we want"
The man from San Fernando also spoke about future planning: "Today we have to pay homage to the players, from the academy players to the captain Jesús Navas. They've been close-knit, I haven't had a better time in the build-up on the bus to a final in my life". He also spoke about his pre-season "gamble" on Julen Lopetegui: "I understand that people had doubts, criticism is good to make us reflect but he won me over on that 6th May. Everything that was said has been confirmed, multiplied by what we want".
To finish, he sent a message to the fans: "Enjoy it, because this cup is where it has to be, at its home. Because no one wants it like us".
