THE COPA DEL REY GETS UNDERWAY WITH THE FIRST ROUND DRAW AT LA CARTUJA

The 56 ties will be confirmed tomorrow, with every side involved except the four Super Cup participants: Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Athletic Club and FC Barcelona

The Covid-19 pandemic may have stopped the 2020 final taking place, but the next Copa del Rey is already on the horizon. On Monday at 13:00 CET, at La Cartuja Stadium, which will host the next four finals of the competition, the draw for the first round will take place, where nearly every team is involved. 56 ties will be drawn, with 112 teams in the hat. The four participants in the Super Cup, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Athletic Club and FC Barcelona, will join in the third round.

Sevilla FC will be in a pot with another 15 top-flight sides. The first ten teams drawn will face the ten sides who won in the preliminary round, while the remaining six teams will face one of the 18 teams from either the Third Division (the fourth tier) and the RFEF Cup. At that point there will be 16 ties drawn, with top-flight sides playing away from home. The 12 remaining sides from the Third Division/RFEF Cup will then face a team from the Second Division. At this point, there will be 28 ties drawn.

The ten remaining Second Division teams will meet a team from the Second Division B (third tier), which will bring up 38 ties. The remaining 36 Second Division B sides will then be drawn against each other, completing the draw. Matches will be decided on the night. Here are the five pots for the draw. Sevilla FC will face one of the 28 teams from either the Third Division, the RFEF Cup or the regional leagues:
