LOPETEGUI: "THE KEY WAS IN PERSISTING AND NOT MAKING MISTAKES"

The manager spoke about the difficulty of an opponent like Huesca and praised the efforts of Rekik and Aleix Vidal, who did not play in their natural positions

Julen Lopetegui was happy with his team's performance as they picked up three points at El Alcoraz: "We played well against a well-managed side with many options. It was tough for us to convert our first-half dominance into clear chances, but we also came out well in the second half. They had a clear chance, which I was told was offside, but we deserved the three points, we were able to score that goal and we also defended well against a tough opponent. Few teams will win here".
 

For the Basque manager, "the key was in persisting, not making mistakes and persevering. In the end we got our reward". He also highlighted the efforts of Rekik and Aleix Vidal, who both played at left back: "They've done well although it was not easy for them. Karim is a centre back, but he's capable of playing there, he's a calm player and he was good. He got that booking, so then Aleix gave us the depth that we needed. They've both made an important contribution and they've done it well". 

Chelsea are in very good form ahead of their visit to Nervión, but there are no excuses for Lopetegui: "Now it's time to prepare to face Chelsea, we'll prepare for the match on Wednesday regardless of their form".
