A TRIP TO LINARES DEPORTIVO IN THE SECOND ROUND OF THE COPA DEL REY

The Salón Luis Aragonés at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas hosted the draw for the Second Round of the Copa del Rey, where the 56 remaining sides found out their next opponents. The four teams involved in the Spanish Super Cup are yet to join the tournament, and will enter in the Third Round, the Round of 32. 

Sevilla FC already knew that their opponents would be a Second Division B side, as all top-flight sides were due to be drawn against a team from the third dier. Sevilla FC were pitted against Linares Deportivo, another Andalusian team, which, for the Nervionenses means a second match against Andalusian opposition in the cup this season. 

Sevilla FC and the then CD Linares faced each other in the cup back in 2002/2003

This is not the first match between the two teams in the Copa del Rey, with the only match taking place in the 2002/2003 season, when Linares Deportivo were called CD Linares. The match was in the Round of 32, and the Hispalenses won 2-1 against the side from Jaen, with goals from Antoñito and Tomás. 

The tie against Linares Deportivo will be played between 5th and 7th January 2021.
