Diario Marca announced the winner of the Premio Miguel Muñoz this Monday, the award for manager of the season in Spain. Sevilla FC's coach, Julen Lopetegui, sharing the award with Real Madrid's Zindedine Zidane, received the award a few days ago at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
A delegation from the newspaper, headed by its manager Juan Ignacio Gallardo, travelled to Seville. Lopetegui had some words after receiving the award in recognition of his first season at Sevilla: 'It's an honour for me to receive this award. I share it with the Club and my players, they helped last season be so special for us.'
The coach spoke about the UEFA Europa League win in Germany: 'I think the format helped us when we went to Germany. It was a different context with it being one-off games, it was almost like the Euros or even a World Cup. There were a lot of top teams in the competition who could have easily won the Champions League.'
