Today, 31st March 2021, the club are celebrating the 75th anniversary of that league title, which was secured at a packed Les Corts, giving the event the importance it deserved.
SEVILLA FC CELEBRATE THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LEAGUE TITLE WON IN BARCELONA
So, in the final match of the season, in Barcelona, the only two sides who could become champions would face each other: FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC. The Catalan side, with 34 points, were the hosts, while the Nervionenses, with 35 points, only needed a draw to secure their first league title. After just seven minutes, Juan Araujo opened the scoring for the visitors. Bravo went on to equalise in the 63rd minute, but, with the hosts unable to find a winner, Sevilla FC held on and became champions. Ramón Encinas was the manager who led the side to glory, with 14 wins (28 points) and eight draws.

The Sevilla FC starting line-up on that fateful day was as follows: Busto; Joaquín, Villalonga; Alconero, Antúnez, Eguiluz; López, Arza, Araujo, Herrera and Campos. The return to Seville was an eventful occasion. The travelling party, who went via bus, celebrated their league title whenever they stopped on their way back to Andalusia. Upon arriving in Seville, the balconies had been decked out for the occasion and the champions were welcomed at the city hall by the city council, the mayor and a huge crowd of fans who packed the streets. The presentation of the cup came seven days later, at a testimonial match between Sevilla FC and Granada CF at the Estadio de Nervión.
