SUSO REACHES 50 LALIGA APPEARANCES FOR THE CLUB

Suso has reached a half-century of LaLiga appearances as a Sevillista. He reached that tally at La Cerámica on Sunday. Although the man from Cádiz could not savour his achievement due to the result, it does not tarnish the commitment nor the performances of the winger since his arrival at the club in January 2020. 

The wide man is another player who has gradually won the confidence of coach Julen Lopetegui, so much so that he is establishing himself in the starting eleven. This can be seen in the statistics, with the ex-AC Milan player featuring in 17 league matches after his arrival in the winter transfer window last season. He also scored his first goal for the club at home to RCD Espanyol. 

This season, with just one league match remaining, Suso has had 2,158 minutes of action in LaLiga, across 33 matches, starting on 27 occasions. He has also added more goals than he did in his debut season, with three goals away from home coming in quick succession. All of his goals helped the team to pick up points in the league. In Matchday 15, he scored the only goal of the match to secure a long-awaited win against Valencia CF at Mestalla, where the team had not won a league match for nearly nine years. In Matchday 17, he opened the scoring in El Gran Derbi at the Benito Villamarín, but the match unfortunately ended in a 1-1 draw.

Coincidence has it that his third league goal of the season, his most recent goal in LaLiga, was against Deportivo Alavés, our next opponents, at Mendizorroza in Matchday 19. The goal was certainly a special one, a stunning left-footed effort from well outside the box, which secured a 2-1 win for the Nervionenses. Sunday would therefore be a perfect opportunity for Suso, if he is selected, to truly celebrate his half-century of league appearances for Sevilla FC.
