Many training sessions, countless matches, and one season lasting eleven uninterrupted months with barely any rest. Sevilla FC go off on their holidays after a good job well done in a season that ended as the team deserved, with the sweet taste of victory. They go off with the feeling that just maybe this is the start of an even bigger journey, but what the team need now is to rest and enjoy their achievements this season before returning to action in July. And the team had a lot to celebrate this season as they broke many records in this historic campaign.

RECORD OF 77 POINTS IN LA LIGA

The team had to push for it until the last minute of the campaign, but they finally managed to beat the Club's record points tally in La Liga. The 77 points won this 20/21 season beat by one point the 76 won under Unai Emery in 14/15 when the team finished fifth. However, the subsequent win in the UEFA Europa League final would see the team rewarded and qualify for the Champions League. The 72 points achieved by Sampaoli in 16/17 sit in third place, with Juande Ramos' 71 points in 06/07 just below that/

RECORD OF 24 WINS IN LA LIGA

Another record set last night against Deportivo Alavés was the number of wins in a La Liga season. After the victory against Valencia CF, the team equalled the record set in 14/15 of 23 wins. Papu Gómez' late strike makes this 20/21 season break that record. In third place, we have the 21 victories achieved by Juande Ramos in 06/07, Manolo Jiménez in 08/09 and Jorge Sampaoli in 16/17.

RECORD OF 33 GOALS CONCEDED IN LA LIGA WITH 20 TEAMS

Sevilla FC's success this season has come from strong defensive foundations, something that goes back to Julen Lopetegui's arrival at the Club. Lopetegui beats his own record that he set last season of least number of goals conceded in La Liga. The 34 goals against last season beat out the 35 under Juande Ramos in 06/07. Now, Lopetegui has overtaken himself with 33 goals conceded in 38 games, an incredible average of only 0.87 goals against per game. Lopetegui's two seasons and 06/07 are the only seasons in which the team have conceded less than a goal a game.

RECORD OF 557 MINUTES WITHOUT CONCEDING IN LA LIGA

Within the goals conceded record, which is the work of the entire team, this season the record for most minutes without conceding was also broken. Bono was key in this respect, as he went 557 minutes without having to pick the ball out of his own net. This breaks the 516 minutes set by Portuguese goalkeeper Beto in 14/15. The record in all competitions remains with Andrés Palop with 781 minutes. The five matches without conceding against Cádiz, Eibar, Getafe, Huesca and Osasuna is also a record in La Liga.

RECORD OF SIX STRAIGHT AWAY WINS

Sevilla FC managed ten away wins this league campaign, winning three in a row on two occasions. The team had not managed such a feat since 04/05 and Lopetegui has now done so three times. Furthermore, including all competitions, the Club set the historic record of six straight away wins. Closing out 2020, the team beat Krasnodar, Huesca, Rennes, Getafe, Ciudad de Lucena and Valencia. They also had four clean sheets in that run with only a goal conceded in Russia and France - that one coming from the penalty spot.

RECORD OF 18 MATCHES UNBEATEN IN LA LIGA

While this record includes the end of last season and the start of this one just ended, the 18 matches unbeaten that was set in the Camp Nou on 4 October 2020 must have a mention. With the draw against FC Barcelona the team started the season without a loss in three games, which added to the run of 15 unbeaten in the incredible end to the 19/20 season, set a record of 18.

EIGHTH QUALIFICATION FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE IN THE LAST 15 YEARS

Since May 2004 when the Club returned to the UEFA Cup after a seven-year absence, Sevilla FC have now been in Europe 17 of the last 18 seasons. This century, the team have eight qualifications for the Champions League and nine for the Europa League. The Club only managed eight European qualifications in the entirety of the 20th century.

QUALIFICATION FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WITH FIVE MATCHES TO SPARE

Until this season, Sevilla FC's earliest qualification for the Champions League was with two matches to spare in 06/07 and last season. In 08/08 and 16/17 they secured their ticket in the penultimate game, while in the unforgettable 09/10 they only secured fourth in the last second with Rodri's famous goal in Almería. In 14/15 and 15/16, they qualified through winning the Europa League.
