May came to an end yesterday, a month which is regularly full of celebrations for Sevilla fans. Day after day, happy memories of a recent past which is still continuing, fortunately. However, two years ago, that change from May to June is a particularly sad one, for all Sevillistas and all those who knew José Antonio Reyes. Today marks two years since the man from Utrera tragically passed away on the road, when he was returning to his home town from Almendralejo.
Sadly familiar scenes once again unfolded at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Reyes' sporting home became the scene for his final farewell, where so many people came to say goodbye to the Spanish international. Many former teammates came, as did players from Extremadura UD, the last team that he played for. It was an important day, the day of the UEFA Champions League Final between Liverpool and Tottenham. There was a heartfelt remembrance for Reyes before the match kicked off.

José Antonio Reyes won five UEFA Europa League titles, a UEFA Super Cup, a Premier League, a LaLiga, a Portuguese League Cup and a Community Shield during his career. He made his debut aged 16 away at La Romareda, when Caparrós was manager, and picked up 22 international caps during his career. With all this while he was still enjoying football in the Second Division, he left and became an eternal Sevilla legend.
731 days have passed since then, but José Antonio Reyes is still very much present in the minds of everyone who was fortunate enough to enjoy him, whether as a great person or an unforgettable player. In his two spells at Nervión, he made the most of an extraordinary link between his feeling for the club and his enormous quality on the ball. Today, like every 1st June, the memory of the pearl of Utrera, of a legendary player, comes to the surface.
