JULEN LOPETEGUI: 'WE SHOWED A LOT OF CHARACTER DURING THE GAME'

The coach was happy with the way his team reacted in the game: 'As the game became more open, we were able to be more threatening.'

Sevilla FC coach, Julen Lopetegui, spoke to the media after his team's win against Getafe CF: 'It was a very positive result, not only the end result, but also how we showed our strength to keep fighting in difficult moments against a more energetic and organised team than us at times. It's been a difficult time for us in terms of Covid and preparation. We fought until the end because it wasn't easy to find a chance on goal. As the game became more open, we were able to be more threatening. We showed a lot of character during the game, and we ended up with the three points in a difficult match.'

The coach highlighted the difficulty of coming up against such a well-organised team: 'They're used to the way they play. Míchel has them playing his style of football, and he will continue to do that, no doubt.' Lopetegui also assessed the positive impact of Rafa Mir, who made his debut as a Sevilla player: 'He came on, and helped us offensively because we were able to play with two strikers. Fortunately, we found a way to score and we're very happy.'

The Sevilla coach ended his interview by speaking about the next league game, away to Elche CF: 'It will be another complicated game for us. We will need to give it our all. It's a difficult place to play, and last year, they not only beat us, but they deserved to win. It will be a very difficult game.'
