OUR LADIES WILL HOST A COMPETITIVE VILLARREAL SIDE IN THE ONLY HOME GAME OF THE MONTH

Sevilla FC Femenino will host Villarreal CF this Wednesday in this week's midweek match. Our ladies return to action after the home defeat to Real Madrid, looking to get back on track in February against Villarreal CF. A tough task to ask as the Catalan outfit come into the game having a good record away from home. 

 It's clear that those two back-to-back wins against Rayo Vallecano and Valencia Féminas CF are in the past and now the team finds itself facing a very competitive stage of the season, different to the previous one. However, one thing is certain, Cristian Toro's ladies will look to perform to their best abilities against hard working opponents under the floodlights, on the main pitch at the ciudad deportiva. Levante UD, Betis and Madrid CFF have suffered the competitiveness of Sara Monforte's team in their previous outings which should stimulate the hosts to bring their A-game from the first whistle until the 90th minute.

In what was match day ten back in November in the league, Sevilla went into the break with deserved a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Inma Gabarro. However, the second half was more evenly matched and hard fought, with Villarreal reducing the deficit through lapses in concentration. Toni Payne slotted home Sevilla's third in what was ultimately a very narrow victory.

"Villarreal are tough opponents that are in good form thanks to Monforte" 

When speaking to the media, the coach firstly spoke about the opponents' recent run of form and his expectations for Wednesday: "We are heading into another game with little time to spare after the Real Madrid game, but at the same time wanting to get back out there and compete at home. We know they're tough opponents that are in good form, winning three and drawing one of their last four. We have to perform up against an opponent that is fighting to stay up and that always gives us an extra kick. In return fixture, Villarreal were a bit passive with their play, now it's more direct and with strikers in top form... it's a team that competes well. I know especially that Monforte has done this and they will be looking to stay up." 

Just like he analysed the signing of Itzel González in the lead-up to the last game against Real Madrid, Toro gave his thoughts on the latest winter transfer window addition, Grace Kazadi: "I am very pleased with the addition of Kazadi. She will contribute with experience and know-how in the positions where we tend to rotate, like the full-backs for example. Squad depth is important and we hope she will boost that level of football." In closing, Toro once again mentioned the importance of playing at home: "We always aim to make it a fortress so that the fans our proud of us and it helps us find our form. In every game we look to compete, win, improve, add intensity, look at dead ball situations... we want to grow, continue on this path and become better.
