The Sevilla FC youth team have already touched ground in Scotland for their play-off tie in the UEFA Youth League against Rangers FC. Lolo Rosano's boys, who finished second in the group stage, will come up against a Rangers side who are the reigning Scottish champions and a side that managed to surpass both Hammarby of Sweden and Septemvri of Bulgaria on aggregate to reach this stage of the competition.
It is worth noting that this Sevilla side comes into the tie after a fairly successful end to 2021, in which the youngsters picked up two draws and only suffered one defeat in Group G. With 8 goals scored and 3 goals conceded, the boys would be outperforming themselves if they were to carry on with this run of form. In addition, Rosano's boys will be confident going into the tie after the win they picked up on Sunday at the Ciudad Deportiva against Córdoba (1-0), three important points earned thanks to Darío's strike.
19 travel for the tie at the Dumbarton Football Stadium
The boss has named 19 of his youngsters in the travelling squad: Alberto Flores, Adrián Romero, Mancheño, Darío, Sergio, Kike Salas, Iván Salguero, Nacho, Marcelo, Juanlu, Manu Bueno, Zarzana, Alexandro, Diego Talaverón, Carlos Álvarez, Rivera, Gonzalo, Juan González and Juanan are all included in the travelling squad. The players aren't the only ones on their travels, other club representatives such as; Pablo Blanco, Agustín López, Marcos Gallego and head of Youth International recruitment, Antonio Fernández will accompany our youngsters.
The game will get underway at 16:00 PM at the Dumbarton Football Stadium by Dutch referee Allard Lindhout. The game can be followed live through Sevilla FC Radio. A place in the last 16 is at stake, where the group stage champions await.
