In the world of football, it is called the 'English average' where a team averages two out of every three points which would equate to winning at home and drawing away from home. At the highest levels in the most important leagues in terms of these numbers, Sevilla are only led by the very best. In fact, in terms of La Liga Santander, there are only two teams that can boast this figure after 26 matchdays. Naturally, it is between the first and second-placed teams in the league table.

Real Madrid have a total of 60 points from 26 games played, which translates to a current average of 2.31 points per match. With six points fewer and the same number of games played, Julen Lopetegui's side are the only ones who can keep up in this sense with an average of 2.08 points per game. Then far away in third place is an average of 1.77 points. In total there are eleven clubs in the first big five leagues that have a similar average, led by Manchester City who get nearly two and a half points on average per game - an exact average of 2.44. They are followed by Bayern Munich on 2.42, PSG in France on 2.38, Liverpool and Real Madrid on 2.31, and then three teams in Serie A on 2.11 with AC Milan, Napoli and Inter. Next are Sevilla FC and Dortmund who both have an average of 2.08 points per match while averaging exactly 2 points (50 points from a total of 25 matchdays) in this table of elites is Chelsea.

Making a projection for Sevilla from now until the end of the season, the team will finish with 79 points which would be the best league season in the club's history, including last season and beating the all-time first division record of 77. This would be reached with an average of 2.02 points per game - 0.06 less than now, which would also beat the best Sevilla performance up until now in 2014/15 under Unai Emery. In that season, with 76 points from 38 games, they gained exactly two points per game on average.
