Although he was unable to celebrate in the best possible way, last Sunday's defeat does not tarnish the evolution of a coach who has strengthened the women's first team in his three years and a few months he has spent at the helm

Cristian Toro reached a century of games as Sevilla FC Femenino boss last weekend. Although the outcome was not in keeping with the date, no one can deny that since Toro arrived back in December 2018, he has endowed the Sevilla team with a strong identity. Something which he has done year on year with his tireless work ethic, taking the team from abyss in his first season and solidifying it through hard-fought victories and overcoming always difficult opponents. Also with a mention to his role in the Copa de La Reina runs as well as bringing through young home-grown talent.

The stats are what standout in the contests. The team have racked up 34 wins and 23 draws, scoring 125 goals along the way having scored in 65% of the games played. It's important to point out that both in November 2020 and in January of this current year 2022, the team has managed to registered a three-game winning streak. With that in mind, it should also be acknowledged that the team went on an equally impressive run of 6 games unbeaten (2 wins, 4 draws) back in 2021 from January to March. In terms of the biggest win to date, the 5-0 thrashing of Malaga in March 2019 is what sticks out and although the biggest defeat came earlier this season against current champions FC Barcelona, it is worth highlighting the defensive integrity, especially without conceding a single goal against tough opponents like Betis, Atlético y Sporting de Huelva. In addition to goal scoring runs, there have been four separate occasions where the team have gone on a 6-game goal scoring streak (the most recent coming back in April to May of last year).

Without focusing too much on the negatives, such as the defeat suffered to FC Barcelona (a rarity in truth), the opponents against whom Sevilla FC Femenino has achieved the most wins so far have been Madrid CFF (5), el RCD Espanyol (4) y el Valencia Féminas CF (4). With all of that, Cristian Toro along with support from the sporting director, has found out how to put Sevilla FC back on the map as far as the women's project is concerned, doing so with persistence, enthusiasm, a lot of heart and the values that are on show day to day here at this great club.
