Sevilla FC travel this Saturday to Madrid for the fourth time this season. Away trips have come to Getafe when the team came away with a win in the league, and twice to the Wanda Metropolitano. First up was a league defeat against Atlético and then a Cup win against Leganés. As such. Spain's capital has been kind enough to Julen Lopetegui's men this season, but the team have not enjoyed a very successful run at Real Madrid's home. The last time the team came away from the Santiago Bernabéu without a defeat was 13 years ago. Manolo Jiménez' Sevilla managed to take Madrid out of the top four with goals from Adriano, Romaric, Kanouté and Renato.
Since then, the Nervionenses have visited Real Madrid's home thirteen times: eleven in the league and twice in the Cup. And Madrid have not let Sevilla come away with even a draw. The scores read: 3-2, 1-0, 3-0, 4-1, 7-3, 2-1, 4-0, 4-1, 5-0, 2-0 and 2-1. This translates to 37 goals conceded with only nine scored. The Cup ties did not fare much better with Madrid winning 2-0 in the second leg of the semi-final in 2010/11, while in the quarter-finals in 2016/17 they won 3-0.
While Sunday's game will be played at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium, it is clear that Sevilla's record away to Madrid in the league is not kind reading for the team. In 76 trips to the capital, the Blanquirrojos have eight wins, eleven draws, and 57 defeats.
