Sevilla looked for a quick reaction and had the chance to make it 2-1 after Nolito received well in between the lines, forcing a corner. The goal would come from the corner though as Banega crossed it in and Escudero was on hand to volley in the rebound. However, when it seemed like that was the turning point, another counter attack from the hosts allowed Bocco to fire an unstoppable shot past Soriano. Ben Yedder and Nolito had chances to reduce the deficit but the African side went into the break two goals up.
Caparrós brought on six players at half-time
Six players came on after the break, amongst them Bryan Gil, who after four minutes would assist Nolito to reduce the deficit. Bryan was a key player as Sevilla looked to control the game. However, Simba's strength would show once more as they broke forward once more to make it 4-2. Sergi Gómez picked up an injury during the goal and Escudero returned to the pitch to replace him.
Simba reduced their rhythm come the end of the game and this allowed Sevilla to take control. With five minutes to go, Promes was first to latch onto a rebound from Munir's shot to make it 4-3. Munir would have the chance to equalise but his shot hit the post. Just after, Promes would complete his brace to bring the match to level terms at 4-4. Now in injury time, Nolito was the hero as his goal completed the comeback and made it 5-4 to Sevilla on the night.
