Even ignoring his goals in qualification against Istanbul Basaksehir, the Sevilla striker is only behind Cristiano Ronaldo in goals scored. His spectacular brace at Old Trafford has seen him jump up three places

UEFA don't count goals scored in qualification when calculating their top goalscorers in the Champions League but have no need to in proving Wissam Ben Yedder's unbelievable scoring record in the competition so far. He now sits only behind Cristiano Ronaldo as the second highest scorer in the greatest club competition in football this season. Counting goals he has scored in past seasons in the tournament, the striker has written himself into Sevilla's European history - making himself the club's top goal scorer in the Champions League in history. With his brace at Old Trafford, Ben Yedder has now scored eight since the start of the group stage (ten if you include the two crucial goals he did score in qualification against Istanbul Basaksehir).

Real Madrid's Portuguese talisman has 12 - just ahead of the French-Tunisian who managed a hat-trick against Maribor, a brace against Liverpool and an away goal at Anfield and another two against United last night. Liverpool's own Firmino sits one behind the Sevillista, with Harry Kane and Cavani also sat on seven each. Mohammed Salah has six, alongside Neymar Jr. and Sadio Mané.

Though Liverpool's forwards and Ronaldo will have the chance to continue adding to their European tallies in the quarters, Ben Yedder has now guaranteed himself more goals than Kane, Neymar and Cavani with his brace.
