LaLiga has revealed the winner of the inaugural LaLiga Santander African MVP Award. The award is chosen by a popular vote, and the first winner is no other than our goalkeeperYassine Bono. This season, the Moroccan became the first Sevilla player to win the Zamora Trophy, and he has now added this award to his individual honours, after winning a vote in which over 30,000 fans from all over Africa, as well as from Spain, France and the US in particular, participated.

Bono, who conceded a mere 24 goals in 31 league matches this season, came out on top against other top candidates, such as Gabon's Aubameyang (FC Barcelona), Nigeria's Chukwueze and Senegal's Boulaye Dia, both of Villarreal CF, and Atlético de Madrid's Kondogbia, who hails from the Central African Republic. In fact, Bono won the Mid-Season MVP Award in January, which identified the best African player in the competition in the first half of the season.
