Joaquín Caparrós, Sevilla FC's current manager, continues growing his legacy in Nervión, more specifically in the Nervionenses' bench. With Sunday's game in the RCDE Stadium against RCD Espanyol, Caparrós has become the manager to have coached Sevilla FC the most in La Liga with a total of 157, overtaking Manolo Cardo on 156, who he equalled last season. With his return to Sevilla's bench following Pablo Machín being removed from his post, Caparrós has written another page of history in his coaching career, reaching 500 official matches as a manager in the Spanish first division.

Caparrós has reached Emery's figure of 63 wins and is only one behind Helenio Herrera's 64

In terms of managers' birthplace, Caparrós is by far the Andalusian manager with the most matches managed in the first division, followed by Gregorio Manzano of Jaen with 411. Furthermore, with his latest win he has equalled Emery's league wins with Sevilla - 63. He is only one behind Heleno Herrera in first place on 64. In addition to the 63 wins, Caparrós has managed 42 draws and 52 defeats, with 197 goals in favour and 169 against.

Regarding the number of matches managed, Joaquín Caparrós has managed the sixth most matches in the first division, only beaten by Luis Aragonés, Javier Irureta, Miguel Muñoz, Víctor Fernández and Javier Clemente, who has 511, one less than the figure Caparrós would have at the end of the season.

Caparrós has also equalled Emery's wins in all competitions, 106, and only has Encinas in front of him with 116

In terms of all competitions, Caparrós already was the manager with the most matches managed in Sevilla's history and he has now brought that figure to 231 matches, extending the gap even more over Helenio Herrera (221) in second place. Unai Emery finishes up the top three with 205 matches, five more than Cardo. In the table of total wins, Ramón Encinas is in first place with 116 wins, nine more than Unai Emery (106), with Joaquín Caparrós curiously on the same number, reaching 106 wins against RCD Espanyol.
