Today, contract negotiations with José Ángel Carmona were finalised. His renewal will see him stay at the club for an additional three seasons, until 30 June 2028. Carmona came to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán to sign the contract and pose for pictures with Club President José María del Nido Carrasco.
Having been a part of the academy since the age of seven, Carmona made his Sevilla Atlético debut during the 2020/21 season before joining the first team only a year later, under the management of Julen Lopetegui. His first-team debut came at the Municipal de Vallecas on 23 March 2022, replacing Marcos Acuña. During the following season, he was a regular member of the first-team squad, although he was loaned to Elche CF during the second half of that season. Then, last season, he joined Getafe CF on a season-long loan, making 32 appearances and scoring one goal.
His impressive form at Getafe earned him an important role in Xavi García Pimienta’s system, starting all 14 league games this season. This takes him to a total of 31 appearances for the club, in which he has scored two goals. In fact, both goals came in the same game – at the RCDE Stadium in September 2022. Carmona, at 22 years old, also represents Spain Under-21s. He was included in Santi Denia’s most recent squad, although he suffered muscle strains in the game against CD Leganés and was unable to participate.
