CASTRO SPOKE TO THE SQUAD ABOUT "THE IDENTITY OF SEVILLA", USING NAVAS AND CARRIÇO AS EXAMPLES

The President directed his speech towards a lot of the newcomers in the team, in the lunch taken after the offering to the 'Virgen de los Reyes'

José Castro, after talking to the press on Wednesday after the offering to the 'Virgen de los Reyes' had been completed, took to the floor again a short time later. He took the time here to address the first team squad after having lunch in Robles Placentines. He especially wished to address the many players that had arrived this season to the club:

It's traditional for us to come to the Cathedral every year as we are a team who is very much a part of the city and what it stands for, because we bare its name on our shirts and because we are proud to be the city's best ambassador worldwide. Nobody has given as much success to Sevilla as Sevilla FC has in recent years; and we want to continue to do just that. 

A lot of you are just beginning your journey with Sevilla FC, playing in your first season with us, I believe it important that our traits are shown to you from the start. What is Sevilla FC? Sevilla FC is commitment, thoroughness. We have achieved a lot in this century, but it's not enough. At Sevilla FC, we keep demanding more. Sevilla FC is perserverance. At Sevilla FC, giving up is not an option, you must fight until the end. Sevilla FC is Jesús Navas, who in spite of winning a World Cup and an European Championship, in spite of being our most capped player ever and winning with us six trophies, and with City some more, he always wants more. Because he never rests. He is insatiable.

Sevilla FC is our 'chief' Daniel Carriço, an example on how to fight after overcoming many injury setbacks and who this year will celebrate his seventh season with us, with three UEFA Europa League's in the trophy cabinet. All of this is Sevilla FC. We don't get tired of winning, we always want more, and we never surrender. We want to make it clear to you, because we are convinced that this is a great group of players who are capable of achieving great things. Moreover, this year we have a special motivation, and that is to do something big in memory of our beloved and unforgettable José Antonio Reyes, an unforgettable footballer, a friend of many of you sitting right here, a true legend who is no longer with us.

I wouldn't want to finish without welcoming in our new member 2, Domingo Muñoz. Unfortunately our member number 1, our beloved Antonio García Guzmán, is no longer with us as he passed away at the start of summer. Domingo Muñoz, this September, will celebrate 73 seasons as a member. I want you to know that Domingo Muñoz is also Sevilla FC - because Sevilla FC is complete loyalty. Demanding, yes; but loyal like no other.
