Though things may not have started well for Sevilla's internationals with Argentina losing to Nigeria, travelling Sevillistas closed off the international break in style. Simon Kjaer will come back home the happiest of anyone, having secured a World Cup place for Denmark in Russia 2018 after thrashing Ireland in Dublin in the second leg of their World Cup Qualifying Playoff. The centre-back, who once again started and was captain, saw Ireland get off to a flyer through Duffy, but an equaliser from full-back Christiensen and a hat-trick from Tottenham's Eriksen put the result beyond any doubt. Bendtner scored a fifth to add insult to injury in added time.
The 1-5 win decides a Playoff that ended 0-0 in Copenhagen and means Kjaer can aspire to a second World Cup of his career (having played in South Africa 2010 at just 21). Denmark did not qualify for Brazil 2014. Alongside compatriot Michael Krohn-Dehli, who was featured on a squad list for this Playoff, Kjaer will look to seal his place in the Russia finals.
More minutes for Steven N'Zonzi
Steven N'Zonzi was the other European First Team player to pull on his national shirt. After debuting last Saturday against Wales, the French midfielder played the last 26 minutes of the Germany-France game (which ended 2-2). The Sevillista replaced Juventus player, Blaise Matuidi.
