DIEGO CARLOS GOES FOR GOLD WITH BRAZIL AFTER BEATING MEXICO IN THE SEMI-FINAL AT THE OLYMPICS

Diego Carlos will fight for the gold medal at the Olympic Games after beating Mexico on penalties at the Kashima Soccer stadium. Both teams failed to score after 90 minutes and extra time, meaning that penalties would seal their fate and decide who could go for gold in the final in Tokyo. 

The Sevilla FC player will go into the final having played every possible minute in the tournament so far, demonstrating his importance to the team. The finalists do not yet know who they will fight against for the gold medal as Spain and Japan play each other in the other semi-final this afternoon. However, after winning on home soil in Rio in 2016, Brazil are hoping history can repeat itself and that they can go for gold again in Tokyo.
