Diego Carlos was the player who spoke to the media alongside Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the Champions League clash with FC Salzburg. The Brazilian began by talking about his form: "Physically I feel good. In the matches that I've played in I've felt good, and like all my teammates I'm ready to start this nice competition". The next question related to the long break from competitive action: "We've done a good job, we've been training hard to get ready for this match and we've played matches in collective training sessions. We're all focused on tomorrow".
DIEGO CARLOS: "WE HOPE TO BE HAPPY WHEN WE COME OFF THE PITCH TOMORROW"
When asked about his defensive partner, Jules Koundé, Diego Carlos believes he is completely focused on the team: "He's a great lad and a great player. I've spoken with him, he is focused on Sevilla and he's ready. We depend on the whole squad and the whole team is ready, whether they play or not, to compete as a family". On the other hand, he does not want any long-term or medium-term objectives: "First off, we're going for the first game. It's a nice competition, it's very demanding and our first match is tomorrow. We hope to be happy when we come off the pitch tomorrow, and then we'll see what we can do in the competition".
The centre-back then commented on the opposition: "We know they're a strong team, with quality and good players. We always go out to compete with humility, and on the pitch we try to do what we've worked on. We are going to play our football and we've studied our opponents well. For me, everyone in the group is favourites. We know the competition is difficult, everyone has quality and we're up against two league champions. We'll compete against great teams and we always have to be ready".
