Following Sevilla Atlético and Sevilla C, the youth 'División de Honor' League will also kick-off this Saturday. Following on from the leadership of Agustín López, this season the youth side will be led by Dimas Carrasco, who gave an analysis of the season-opener against Granada (on Gol Television from 12:00pm) to SFC TV: "We are excited, the pre-season has been long and we want to compete. There are teams with a lot of potential and we are one of them. Granada are a dangerous side, with good people in charge and a possession-based game we'll have to face up to".
One year on it's a very young squad, made up - in large part - of former Youth B Team players and some players kept on from last year. Rares - who came from Roma - and Luis García - who came from Brighton - are two attackers who have also been signed. With experience in the coaching staff of Sevilla Atlético, Dimas has been able to see what youth players have to offer over the years: "You can see the competitive gene in every Sevilla player. We are here to grow players so they can reach the B Team and the First team, but we also have to compete. There is quality but also an expectation for them to improve so they can make the jump up to more senior categories".
With regards to the future, he was very clear: "We're built on three fundamentals: pressure, intensity and dominance. From here on we need to be looking to beat any opponent". To finish he spoke about the huge challenge ahead of them in the form of the Youth League: "I think the whole club is excited. We have already watched videos of Liverpool and they are strong, but not with the typical direct English style. They have Gerrard on the bench who likes to play attractive football, but we'll go at them with all we've got".
