At home having been discharged from hospital this morning, Sergio Escudero spoke with SFC Radio and made it clear he is already thinking about returning to the pitch as soon as possible: 'I'm pretty good and ready to start the recovery. I've watched it now, before I preferred not to. It's really overwhelming, but I believe that watching what has happened makes you stronger.'
Escudero confirmed 'nothing like this has ever happened to me and when you feel the pain you know that something's not right. Now it's time to recover. They've told me that there's no fracture and that's a big relief. We have to wait for the final tests to fully rule it out.' Regarding the danger of such moments, he believes 'they're really dangerous because you can't support yourself in the air. I'm sure that Raba had no bad intentions, and if it had have been a 50/50 on the ground it wouldn't have happened.'
Finally, Escudero wanted to thank all the support he has received: 'I've received many messages to get better soon and I didn't expect so many, honestly.' One of these messages came from the eternal rival, who he won't be able to face: 'Unfortunately I'll not be able to play the derby, but I'm sure I'll be back even stronger for the next one.'
