Sevilla FC and Sergio Escudero have reached an agreement meaning the left-back will stay at the club until 30 June 2021. Escudero’s contract was due to end in 2019, and his contract has now been extended for a further two years, as well as his release clause being increased. The contract renewal will be signed next week.
Escudero arrived at Sevilla FC in the summer of 2015. An untimely injury prevented him from competing for a starting place at the start of the campaign, but he gradually got minutes and became an important part of the squad, playing in the final in Basel and being crowned as a UEFA Europa League winner. This season his starting place is indisputable and he has become one of the key players in Jorge Sampaoli’s Sevilla FC. His performance has not gone unnoticed by Julen Lopetegui, who selected him in the squad for the Spanish national team, although he is still yet to make his debut.
