Sevilla FC's 16/17 side have equalled the club record for fewest defeats in a 20-team league, which until now was held by Unai Emery's 14/15 team, in the season in which the club achieved its best points total in history. Jorge Sampaoli's side have fallen to just eight defeats, an impressive figure which serves as a reminder of the excellent work the team has put in throughout the season.
A draw or a win on Saturday against Osasuna would mean Sevilla FC end the league campaign unbeaten in 78.94% of their matches. That percentage has only been bettered twice in the club's history, most recently by Manolo Cardo's 82/83 side (79.5%), while Ramón Encinas's title-winning team of 45/46 ended the season unbeaten in 84.62% of their games.
Particularly significant has been Sevilla FC's strength at home, where Jorge Sampaoli's side have only lost against FC Barcelona, and have earned a total of 43 points from 13 victories and 4 draws. With a win against Osasuna, Sevilla FC would equal Real Madrid's total of 46 points at home, a number which would only be bettered by FC Barcelona, with 48, as long as Luis Enrique's side beat Eibar at the Camp Nou on Sunday.
