It may not have been the desired outcome when looking back on this weekend's result, in which Sevilla FC pushed to try and complete the comeback. However, against a dangerous RC Celta attack, as shown in the scoreline, the point earned on Saturday in the Pizjuán is a somewhat overlooked valuable reward. Not only does it keep us within touching distance of top spot, it also widens the gap between us and third, opponents who we will face in two games' time. Furthermore, losing to Coudet's side would have meant breaking a streak that has lasted since May, when we last lost a home game to Athletic Club at the tail end of last season.
Since then, the team have not suffered a defeat in front of the fans, something that could have happened until the group pulled out all the stops to turnaround the situation they found themselves in at half time. It is a streak very few have been able to accomplish, which in fact, as of this week, makes Sevilla FC the side with the best home record in the LaLiga Santander. Going into the game, Lopetegui's boys were level on points with Rayo Vallecano, with one game in-hand, for best home record. Real Madrid are two points behind. With Iraola's men playing away next weekend and Madrid's draw to Alavés, it means that Sevilla FC are now the sole leaders in these partial standings, with one point more than Rayo and two more than Ancelotti's side.
Shifting attention to the five big European leagues, it is clear that what Sevilla FC is achieving is not a small feat. In fact, it remains that in Spain there are still two undefeated home records, whereas across the other leagues, such as; The Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1, there are only three other teams to have remained undefeated at home. Three of which are Inter in Italy, another PSG in France and Liverpool in England. Interestingly, only two of them can boast, along with Sevilla FC, of being the best home side in their league and at the same time remaining unbeaten. In the Serie A, Inter have drawn two games at the Giuseppe Meazza since the start of the season, whilst PSG have only let two points slip all season at the Parque de los Príncipes.
