Fernando Reges spoke to official media before the penultimate training session ahead of Sunday's away match at Villarreal CF. The midfielder began his interview by stating that he feels good, and that the team are working hard to round off the campaign with six points: "We know it's very difficult being up there, we know that we have a chance to make history at the club and we'll go for it, even though it will be tough to beat a good Villarreal side".
FERNANDO: "WE HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE HISTORY AT THE CLUB, AND WE'RE ALSO FIGHTING TO FINISH THIRD"
The Brazilian mentioned the bittersweet results in recent week, but is optimistic about what lies ahead: "It's difficult because we were in very good form, after the defeat against Athletic we really suffered, because we had hope. We lost there and now it's complicated, but we have a chance to make history at the club, and we're also fighting to finish third". The midfielder, in this sense, seemed more disappointed with the defeat against Athletic Club than the draw in Valdedebas: "The match against Athletic hurt more than the match against Real Madrid, because we were better in the first half and didn't take our chances. On a personal level that match really hurt, but it's gone and we have to think about what's ahead of us". He also offered his thoughts on Sunday's opponents, Villarreal CF: "They're a very good team, they have a good coach and they're very strong individually on the ball. It will be tough, but we're ready and we're a team that knows how to adapt to circumstances".

Regarding his personal situation, the midfielder stated that, in order to reach his current level, he has had to "put in a lot of work, do things well and rest well, but alongside me I have a good squad, an ambitious coach and a sporting management who always want the best". Ahead of matches, he believes that resting is beneficial, but he wants to continue enjoying the hectic schedule of the league, the cup and Europe: "Rest helps because you can't recover 100% when there are matches in each competition every three days, and when you have time to rest things turn out much better, but I want to play in those three competitions every three days for many years".
To finish, he again insisted that he wants to finish this season in the best way possible, after so much effort from himself and the whole team: "I'm very happy because we've had two very demanding seasons without resting, with very complicated matches. We have things to win and I'm happy with the victories".
