Our guest on 'A Balón Parado' from on Tuesday night was club captain Jesús Navas, who spoke about his career since his arrival in Nervión, and he is as keen as ever to be able to enjoy many more years playing for the club. The man from Los Palacios began by telling an anecdote from one of his first pre-seasons with the first team, where he shared a room with one of the club captains at the time, Javi Navarro. As he was quite slim, Navas was recommended and almost forced by club nutritionists to eat sweets and high-calorie foods in order to put on weight, something which Navarro could not put up with, "this can't be, go outside to eat them, I can't stand this smell".
JESÚS NAVAS: "I STILL HAVE TO LIFT A TROPHY AS SEVILLA FC CAPTAIN"
The captain stated that "I am watching the reruns of matches that are on the club TV channel. I like to sit down to watch them and enjoy it with them. They were great, really nice moments. Winning the trophies that we've got is great for the fanbase, and for us to be able to enjoy it with them. Hopefully we can win another one soon".
"Scoring a goal in a final was incredible"
After hearing the commentary from his goal in the 2010 Copa del Rey final against Atlético de Madrid, Navas was emotional: "I feel proud, we worked hard to get to the final, we were humble. Being able to achieve successes like that is great, it was a good final, a good match, that we could really enjoy with the fans. It was a dream, playing in a final for your Sevilla. Scoring a goal in a final was incredible".
Navas has no doubts about his future: "I like the day-to-day business here, I don't stop thinking about what I've achieved. I like working hard in every training session, every match. That excitement is what makes me go for more. I have all the excitement in the world to keep going with Sevilla and the national team. I'm enjoying my football, what I do every day. I enjoy watching the fans and what they do. I hope to play for many more years and that injuries don't take their toll".
"I'm still as excited as I was on the first day, I enjoy every moment here"
Finally, Navas stated what his dreams are for the rest of his career: "Now I have to work hard, there's a year until the Euros and for me, playing with the national team is the pinnacle. I have enjoyed magical, nice moments, so now I'll work hard for Sevilla so I can return there. Every two or three days I remember that goal in South Africa, it's unique. You always dream of winning a World Cup as a kid, and being able to be there. I'm still as excited as I was on the first day, I enjoy every moment, and lifting a trophy as Sevilla FC captain and going to the Euros are the dreams I want to achieve".
