Jesús Navas González continues making history. At the Olympiastadion in Berlin, the defender won his second  European Championship with the Spanish national team after they beat England 2-1. Nico Williams had initially put Spain ahead before Cole Palmer equalised. A late goal from Mikel Oyarzabal however gave Spain the trophy. Navas thus becomes the most decorated player in the history of the Spanish national team, as the first to win four international titles.

In each of the five tournaments in which Jesús Navas has been part of the squad, the Spanish national team has always reached the final, winning the World Cup in 2010 against the Netherlands, the European Championship in 2012 against Italy and the Nations League in 2023 against Croatia, losing only in the final of the Confederations Cup against Brazil in 2013. He also became the oldest player to play in a European Championship final in the 21st century and the only player in history to win two European Championships, a World Cup and a Nations League.
