Julen Lopetegui spoke to official media after Wednesday's draw against VfL Wolfsburg. He began by stating that "the Champions League is very difficult, and even more so when you're away in Germany, but the team gave their all throughout the match despite the fact that it became harder for us when they scored at the start of the second half, but overall we even deserved to come from behind to win".
LOPETEGUI: "WE'RE THE ONLY TEAM TONIGHT THAT PICKED UP POINTS AWAY FROM HOME"
The coach continued his analysis of the match by focusing on the effort that his team had to put in to gain a point, something that no other away side did in the UEFA Champions League tonight: "In the first half we played well but without having too many chances, they didn't, but they were clinical with their first chance and we've had to dig deep to get the draw. We've had quite a few chances and, as I said earlier, the team gave their all and responded during a difficult moment. We got a point in Germany, we're the only team tonight that picked up points away from home".
To finish, he offered an update on Marcos Acuña's fitness, after he was forced off by injury, but Lopetegui also said that we will have to wait to find out more: "It appears that he has a sprained ankle and we will assess it in the next few days".
