For the third time in their history, Sevilla FC are facing a trip to France to face LOSC Lille. The team will wear their home kit for the clashwhich has been the norm for European away days in recent seasons, but the red kit was used last time out, in Wolfsburg. The only change is that Julen Lopetegui's side will be wearing red socks instead of black, which also happened for the last trip to Lille. On that occasions, it was a UEFA Cup Round of 16 First Leg clash at the old Stade Lille-Métropole, their temporary home while the Stade Pierre-Mauroy was under construction.

That match ended in a 1-0 defeat, but the Nervionenses turned the tie on its head in the return leg to reach the quarter finals, on their way to lifting the title in Eindhoven. The year beforethe team also faced Lilleexcept this time it was in the UEFA Cup Group Stage, which had an asymmetrical format. This meant that Sevilla only faced Lille away from home. Again, it was another 1-0 defeat, but qualification for the next round had already been confirmed. In that match, Lille swapped their traditional red home kit for a navy blue strip. As for Sevilla FCthey wore their new European stripthe first time that the club had a kit solely for use in Europe. The shirt had a red-and-white design, with white shorts and socks.
