DOMINANT IN EL GRAN DERBI AND ALSO AWAY FROM HOME

All the editions of El Gran Derbi have their own share of importance. The league, the situation and the state in which the teams arrive in... Last night was a game between two teams high up in the league but both also hurting from European games and all in an atmosphere with the return to normality after three games without fans. With regards to goals, there is no comparison with 208-157 in favour of Sevilla. In Nervión things are even clearer with 40 Sevilla wins, 16 Betis wins and 11 draws. What is really striking is that after last night Sevilla FC also lead the overall derbies won as the away side thanks to their 24th official win achieved in Heliópolis. By contrast, Betis have 23 wins and there have been 21 draws. Therefore the Sevilla team win 35.3% of derbies as the away side and have a spectacular 66.2% rate of not losing.  

This is a run that has been forged over time but the spectacular dominance of Sevilla has been cemented in the last decades. Since 1997 of the 46 derbies played, there has been 23 Sevilla wins, 16 draws and just seven wins for Bets. If you limit yourself to the recent past with Betis as the home side the statistics are even more overwhelming. Since 1986, encompassing 31 derbies as the visiting side, Sevilla FC have only been defeated on four occasions at the home of their eternal rival. On the other hand, following last night Sevilla have won on 14 occasions and achieved 13 draws. All of these statistics reflect how perfect the derby is today, a game full of passion, colour, and clear Sevilla domination, wherever it is played.
