The left-back signs on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion without an option to buy

An agreement has been reached with Brighton & Hove Albion for the loan move of Argentine left-back Valentín Barco without an option to buy. Born in the town of 25 de Mayo, Barco came through the youth ranks at Boca Juniors making his professional debut in the 2020/21 season.

During the 2022/23 season, he went on to play 20 matches in the league, 9 in the Copa Libertadores, 9 in the League Cup and 3 in the Copa Argentina - a title he would end up winning. His performances in Argentina attracted the interest of Brighton & Hove Albion, who signed him in January 2024. In the second half of the 2023/24 season, Valentin Barco played six Premier League games and one FA Cup game.

At international level, he has played for both Argentina under-20s and under-23s before making his debut for the senior national team in a friendly match against El Salvador in March 2024.
