Julen Lopetegui, coach of Sevilla FC, talked in front of the club´s press to analyse their victory in the opening league game: "We are happy to have achieved our objective against a very strong team that were very prepared after having already played four competitive matches. The team played well, knowing how to defend when needing to, but also by making the most of certain opportunities to bring home the three points".
Both sides were evenly matched for a large part of the opening game: "Throughout the game we were trying our best against a very good team. The truth is we had opportunities to score more goals. The team played well, and in the second half we were being ambitious, looking to score the second goal".
The coach reflected upon his satisfaction with Nolito, one of the scorers during the game: "Nolito had a great game, just like the rest of the team. The important thing is that Sevilla FC won, not who scored".
The only setback of the game seemed to be having to substitute Diego Carlos because he was in discomfort: "During games things like this are always going to happen, in truth we had more problems. Fortunately, everything seems fine".
Sevilla FC put themselves near the top of the table after the first matchday: "Right now the table should not be looked at, we look towards training tomorrow and the next game against Granada".
