LOPETEGUI: "I WANT TO THANK THE FANS BECAUSE THEY MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE"

Lopetegui congratulated the Dutch striker: "we all know the work he puts in and today, fortune smiled on him and he scored"

After the victory over Levante UD in the Sánchez-Pizjuán, Julen Lopetegui spoke to the media. The Sevilla manager said that it "had been a hard-fought and complicated win, as is every game. We richly deserved the three points, something that isn't given to you. In the second half we were able to score and take home the three points". He also spoke about the chances his team created: "We believe that the more we create, and the less the opposition create, the closer we'll be to our objective".

"The fans played a huge role in the win"

As for Luuk de Jong's role in the victory, Lopetegui was delighted by the Dutch player's work after he came on: "The team are happy with the three points, but we are all aware of the work De Jong puts in and today fortune smiled down on him and he scored". Lopetegui went even further, talking about the role the fans had in the win: "Luuk scored the goal, but for me the fans won us the game. There were times when we were sluggish and the fans cheered us on and gave us a boost. I want to thank the fans because they made a huge difference".

Likewise, Lopetegui spoke about our captain, Jesús Navas, who "gave us a lot of energy down the right and the changes we made also helped us a lot".

To finish off, he stated that his attentions are already turning towards Dudelange: "We now have to reset and start thinking about Dudelange. The return of the internationals helped us a lot and we knew how to compete".
