Carlos Álvarez pulled one back with a long-range effort
José Ángel hit the crossbar just five minutes later, proof that Sevilla Atlético were not going to throw the towel in early doors. The frantic pace of the encounter continued, with both sides getting forward at almost every opportunity. Javi Díaz made a crucial save to prevent the hosts going three goals up, before Carlos Álvarez, brought on by Acejo after just half an hour, made a crucial block to stop a dangerous Alcoyano counter-attack. A few minutes later, the substitute would halve the deficit with a superb long-range effort which got the better of José Juan, who had already made an important save to keep the score at 2-0.
The second half continued to provide the same attacking football from the first half, with both sides looking to score. Alcoyano had chances at the start of the half but were unable to find a third. Peral looked for an equaliser with a long-range free kick, but José Juan was equal to the task. Nacho Quintana was the next one to test the veteran goalkeeper, but again he kept the visitors out. The match then began to slow down, with both teams tiring after a fast-paced match.
Acejo's side were unable to trouble José Juan despite their efforts to equalise
As the match drew to a conclusion, Primi nearly completed his hat-trick with a header from a corner, but Javi Díaz kept the match alive with ten minutes remaining. Acejo's side pushed hard for an equaliser, but the team were very tired after all their efforts during the match, as they looked to bounce back from going two goals down early on. As a result of the defeat, Sevilla Atlético have 28 points after 22 matches.
