Sevilla FC drew once again in LaLiga Santander, in their Matchday 28 fixture at Vallecas, in a match where they should have came away with all three points. Delaney's equaliser with half an hour to go cancelled out Bebé's goal just after the interval. Beforehand, Rafa Mir had a goal ruled out by VAR due to a supposed handball, while the penalty he won in the second half was overturned by VAR. Martial and Delaney had injury-time chances to win it, but Dimitrievski kept both shots out. Sevilla FC remain second in the table, with 56 points.
Sevilla started the first half brightly, creating chances via two corners in the first minute in Madrid, but the pace and intensity of that start gradually declined, before both teams went into the break with the deadlock still intact. The visitors did score in the first half in Vallecas, with Rafa Mir reacting quickest to a loose ball and firing beyond Dimitrievski, but a quick VAR decision disallowed the goal for a supposed handball. In the very next move, Guardiola nearly put the hosts in front, but his effort hit the bar and went over.
Tecatito's superb cross was converted at the far post by Delaney, cancelling out Bebé's opener
Unlike the first half, the second half got off to the worst possible start. Within a minute, Bebé beat Augustinsson on the right-hand side and struck a powerful effort from just inside the box, on the wing, to beat Bono at the near post. Julen Lopetegui made a triple change just afterwards, bringing on Martial, Acuña and Tecatito. The Argentine quickly won a corner after coming on, with a typical counter attack down the left-hand side. It didn't take long for one of the substitutes to play a part in the equaliser. Rafa Mir won the ball back before the ball made its way to Tecatito. The Mexican found Delaney at the far post, and the Dane made no mistake as he scored his second of the season.
However, within just 13 minutes of coming on, Marcos Acuña had to be withdrawn due to injury, and was replaced by José Ángel Carmona. Sevilla FC continued to look for options to take the lead, but it was a very difficult afternoon to do so. Rafa Mir won a penalty with ten minutes remaining, but the referee overturned his decision after consulting with VAR. In stoppage time, they went so close to taking all three points. A Martial volley from the corner of the area was superbly turned away by Dimitrievski, and he denied Delaney from the resulting corner.
There was no time for Sevilla to find a winner in the capital, despite their late efforts to beat Dmitrievski. The team have 56 points with 10 matches remaining, and are still second in the table.
