ROCKET FROM NAVAS SECURES FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON (1-0)

Our first win of the season came at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán with a gritty display to take all three points courtesy of a captain's goal from Jesús Navas. García Pimienta's side went into the break one goal up in a half in which both teams had chances. Uche hit the post in the 18th minute after a defensive mistake. Five minutes later, the tables were turned when Jesús Navas latched onto a cross from Pedrosa and beat David Soria. Shortly before the break, Isaac could have extended the lead, but his lob after a good pass from Nyland went over the top of the Getafe goal. 

The team had to dig in late on down to ten men 

The second half started with a very good opportunity falling to Navas, but he couldn't get his second. Nyland picked out the captain who was denied by a brilliant intervention from Soria. A handball went unpunished in the area as Getafe were lucky to survive a very strong penalty claim. Marcao, who had a brilliant game leading the defence, had to be substituted with a concussion. 

In a frenetic finish Juanlu, who had only been on the pitch for fifteen minutes, was sent off for two yellow cards putting us down to ten men. Lukebakio hit the post deep into stoppage time but it didn't matter as we got our first win of the 2024/25 season.
