Sevilla FC Women fell to a 1-0 defeat against UDG Tenerife in the first of two games on the island in a few days. On this occasion the league game left a bitter taste for Cristian Toro's squad, despite their effort and competitiveness for large parts of the game on Sunday, they couldn't take a point in the Rodríguez López stadium.
In the first half the Sevilla side started well. Two minutes in the pattern of the game was set with both sides playing with a high intensity and creating chances. In the 10th minute Sandra Hernández had a shot that hit the woodwork and then both Toni Payne and Jessica Martínez had shots but the clearest chance fell to Martín Prieto just past the half hour mark with a one on one well saved by the goalkeeper Esther Sullastres. In the final part of the game Araya and Vasconcelos has attempts but their shots went wide of the Tenerife goal.
A goal from Nasello at the end of the game undid the good work of the Sevilla side
Then in the second half the rhythm would be different. There were chances, but not as clear cut in the first half and with Sevilla FC trying from set-pieces whilst both sides made changes. In the 71st minute Pisco hit the woodwork and three minutes later the American Nasello converted a one on one to put her side ahead. Despite the goal, the Sevilla side didn't stop with their determination in search of the draw with Ana Franco leading the line but in the end the goal couldn't be found as the side from Tenerife won the league game in which Sevilla had been dangerous throughout.
In football there is no rest and next Wednesday the will be another chance to get a win in Tenerife but this time in a different competition. The Municipal Stadium will host the Copa del la Reina quarter-final at 16:00, meaning a there will be a two-week break in the league until the visit of SD Eibar to the Estadio Jesús Navas.
