1-0: AN 11TH WIN IN THE ANTONIO PUERTA TROPHY

In his first game in charge in front of the fans at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, García Pimienta made it a home debut to remember as we took home the Antonio Puerta Trophy. It was victory number 11 in 13 editions of the tournament thanks to a first-half penalty from Lucas Ocampos, as well as the first victory of pre-season so far. 

We began the game on the front foot with Ejuke down the left a constant source of danger. The first chance for the visitors came when Dmitrovic was forced into a good low save to keep out Faisal's shot from a narrow-angle. The high pressing from García Pimienta's men stifled the Saudi side and Ocampos won the ball and fed Isaac, who was brought down inside the box, although the penalty shouts were waved away.

Up the other end, Al-Ittihad were awarded a penalty after Kike Salas was adjudged to have foul Benzema. However, the French striker couldn't take advantage and skewed his penalty wide. With half time looming, Fabinho brought down Ocampos inside the area after a direct dribble into the box. He then picked himself up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way and slot away the penalty. 

In the second half, Alberto Flores, after coming on at half-time, palmed away a powerful shot from Ahmed to send the ball out for a corner in the first chance. Al-Ittihad enjoyed more of the possession in the closing stages as they looked for an equaliser, although it was nearly José Ángel Carmona who put the game to bed with a run that ended with a shot that deflected wide off Almahasnah. In the final ten minutes, Peque came off for his debut as we saw out the game to win the Antonio Puerta Trophy.
