The Argentine was very happy with the league opener: 'It's what we came for and we're satisfied with our performance.'

Mercado was happy following the rout in the league opener in Vallecas: 'It's what we came for so obviously we're happy with the performance. It's a good start but we have to keep that up throughout the season. Generally speaking, we were solid, determined and convincing, which is what we needed. Create chances and score goals.'

The team has now scored nine goals in four days: 'The more goals the better. If we score more it'll be easier for us to win games. But we know it'll not always be like this and we've just started scoring more recently. We now need to reach the Europa League group stage and turn our attention to the two games coming up in La Liga. We're playing a lot of games, but we knew it was going to be like this and we're prepared for what's to come.'

Delighted with his call-up to the Argentine squad with Vázquez, he explained he was at ease in the new system. 'Having Jesús Navas by your side makes life easier for any player. He helps out in attack and defence and he never gets tired. If it's not Jesús, it's Aleix, who has similar qualities. It's easier for us to defend with one more player and we hope we continue in this way.'
