After Jordán and Diego Carlos spoke at their official presentations as Sevilla FC players, Sporting Director Monchi, gave the media an update on what has already been a busy transfer window for the Nervionenses. "We're happy with how the window is going. I said the other day that I'm happy with the support of the board and as of today we've made the biggest investment in the history of the Club. I have what I want to achieve in mind - there are deals that have been completed, others that are close, and we have to balance a bit on departures. At the moment we are fine, though we have to work at both ends. I'm happy, satisfied with what we have, but we still have a tough summer ahead. Nobody should think the work is done, because there will be moments and decisions that will create doubts. In the end, we'll have to wait for the famous 'squad' to be finished".
MONCHI: "IF ALL GOES TO PLAN, REGUILÓN WILL ARRIVE AND TAKE HIS MEDICAL SOON"
"The squad will be one that allows us to compete at the maximum level in the competitions we enter. We're not going to lose sight of the academy at all. In fact Bryan Gil will be a full First Team member and we're training now with Mena, Lara, Juanpe, Alfonso, Lucho and Javi Vázquez. Regardless of the First Team, the coach will be looking to those academy squads as he's worked with youth teams before".
On departures, he asked for patience: "All the players knew their situations a month and a half ago - and we're going to work towards ideal solutions for all of them because first of all, they are people, then footballers. We also will look for the best solutions for the Club".
Speaking more specifically about Ben Yedder: "I don't know how he's doing, if he's on holiday or not... From there, he's a hugely important asset even though two strikers have arrived... as well as Munir and Carlos Fernández... If we keep him the boss will be extremely happy. But we have almost two months of transfer window still to go. We won't rush any situation because we could get things wrong". From possible exits to arrivals, he touched on Reguilón: "That has moved forward... Some work still needs to be processed but if everything keeps going in this direction, he should travel fairly shortly to undergo a medical. I can't give you much more because the negotiation is still open. We had an important ace up the sleeve because the player wants to come. That helps because it gets rid of any competition and lets you work, knowing the player is going to come in any case".
"We have an ace up the sleeve with Reguilón because he wants to come"
He also spoke about Banega, seeming to rule out an exit: "The important thing for me today is his performance. I don't have in mind whether he might leave on a free or not. I'm happy because I see him as motivated and committed. He hasn't been on the market at any stage and he's a fundamental piece this season. I hope he can stay with us for a while yet but the only thing that worried me was involvement this season and I think he's very motivated. We'll see if that continues in the long-term".
Jules Koundé was also a topic of discussion: "The fixed price isn't the most expensive in the Club's history due to clauses - which I hope we have to pay because it would be a good sign. But that might be in a while. Performance will dictate whether it's expensive or not. Football has seen quite a lot of inflation in recent times and, if I can say so, we've bought him for less than I thought at the start. From there, he's 20 years old, he's got potential and I'm very happy that we've had the seal of approval for an impressive investment - albeit not the most expensive in Club history".
"Koundé's price will depend on performance"
Finally, he spoke about the defence and the need for some departures: "A centre-back will have to leave because we have a lot, as of now. We've never spoken with Julen about using three centre-backs but beyond any system, there is overbooking, and we're working to find the balance for the project". One defender who won't be arriving is Dani Alves: "My relationship with Dani at the moment is one of friendship, it's not professional. I would love to say that there's hope but at the moment Sevilla isn't in Dani's plans. He wants to continue competing in other kinds of competition and that doesn't mean we should rule out that he might come back one day. He won't in the short-term".
